A good meditation for this moon would be, “what needs to go so that I can grow?”

March’s full and new moon hit just before the spring equinox on the 21st, marking the time the light of day comes into balance with the dark of night.  Can you feel the expectation of growth inside of you?  For the past couple of months we have been working on clearing house and addressing deep wounds both within us and with those that surround us.  It is time, on this full moon, to address these things we have worked on once more, to tie up any loose ends and prepare ourselves for new growth.  Take stock of your life and make a new plan.  What do you need to happen to blossom into the being you want to become?  Think about that in terms of within your body, as well as life outside of your body. Now is the time to look back, let go and get ready to implement and put into motion what it is you want to become!

Spring is governed by the wood element.  The wood element refers to growing entities; trees, plants and the human body. This element oversees the liver and gallbladder, our body’s filtration systems. This is the time of season to nourish and feed our bodies both with exercise, cleansing and adjusting our diets. We should be transitioning from our winter foods to more fruits and green vegetables.  While the wood element is active, it is important that we take the time to cleanse our inside and to help move out toxins that have been built up and stored there.  Are you sluggish, finding it hard to get a move on in the mornings? Spinal issues, arthritis, eye issues, or a greenish hue about the skin are all signs that you may have a wood imbalance.  There is much written about cleansing and to continue would set me on the course of writing a book, I will just encourage you to look further into it at this time. It’s a great way to aid your body in letting go of winter and to usher in spring, within the walls of your being.  Remember, you cannot blossom into the new you, with the old sludge hanging out taking up space!

As I said before, our winter diets will be giving way to our summer fare.  Be on the lookout for fresh fruits and vegetables grown locally. Greens, greens, greens, you can’t go wrong with them, so start introducing more of them into your diets at this time.  Great herbs to introduce into your system at this time would be; dandelion root, sassafras bark and peppermint. Check out your tea isle in the local supermarket and experiment around.  And EXERCISE! I cannot stress enough as to how beneficial this is to your body. Exercise gets your lymph and circulatory systems moving and helps to move toxins out. Honestly, I find a simple little walk just gets me moving forward in all things body, mind and spirit.  You don’t have to become a world class Olympian, just take a simple little walk every day.  Movement. Creating energy.

A possible mantra for this full moon cycle might be; “elimination equals illumination”

In closing, I hope that you will use this information to create a sacred space for yourself. Remember a ceremony, alter, ritual, meditation, prayer time or just a good ol celebration can be made anyway you wish.  There is no wrong or right way, each will be as different and unique as each intention every one of you sets for yourselves.   I firmly believe that setting an intention followed by any of these things, just adds a little extra OOMPH and really helps to cement that intention into place.  So… this moon phase for March, let us take a quick look back, finish what needs to be finished and then let it go with the wind, we gotta  get ready for some seed sow’n  grow’n!  Sometimes it helps to howl with that wind, don’t be shy!!

Peace, Love, Rocks and Moonbeams ya’all!

A good meditation for this moon would be, balance of giving and receiving?

February’s full /new moon is for letting go and coming together again. When thinking about setting your intention this full moon, be thinking of the things that stand in your way of fully experiencing love. Not just romantic love but any kind of love. Brotherly love, love for you sibling, parent or maybe a coworker, there are many kinds of love. Ask yourself, what is keeping you from giving and receiving more fully. Last month was about introspective looking within ourselves at our own personal disturbances. This month’s energies deal with the energies that surround us and how we interact with them. The snow moon was named so for the fact that this is the time of year for the heaviest of snow fall. Families were more times than not, required to keep close quarters in the home. It is a time for hearth, family, enlightenment and togetherness. This full moon is a capital time to forgive and let go so that you may come into love more fully on the new moon. When thinking of forgiving, don’t forget to think of yourself. Some Native American’s refer to this moon as the full Hunger Moon. When snow’s were heavy food was scarce. This was a time to come together and love your brother, share and care for your neighbors. This is the full moon of purification to find growth through healing. That means taking responsibility for past transgressions and forgiving yourself. The earth awakens to the future and the rising energy of spring and it prepares itself. We are no different. Take this time to work on the relationships around you so that you can begin to experience more fully, our spring awaits us too. It’s time to prepare for our future.

A possible mantra for this full moon cycle might be; “ I bring in balance those energies that surround me so that I may love more fully”

I wrote this segment on the winter season and its effect on us in January. We are still in winter season, so I will include it again. Winter is the deepest yin energy of the year, emotional energy. The water element is most dominant during the winter time. This element is associated with the kidneys, bladder and sexual organs. Experiencing fear or craving large amounts of salt may be a sign that your kidney and bladder and thus your water element, may have an imbalance. If you wish to eat for the winter season and keep your yin energy in balance, stay away from fruits and salads and red heavy meats. Instead, eat complex carbs, root vegetables, fish, tofu and soybeans and Miso soup acts as a great alkalizer. Use of ginger and cayenne pepper to your dishes will heat the body from within. You may also try teas made with comfrey root, ginger root, cinnamon bark, fennel seed, peppermint and chamomile to steer you away from the winter chill and keep you cozy warm inside and out.

Remember to be kind to yourself this winter, that going inward is a natural thing. I think a lot of people sometimes confuse this inward time with depression. It’s totally ok to skip the party, crawl under a blanket, cozy up on a couch and just be. ;-) Now….. let’s do some balancing, shall we?

Peace, Love, Rocks and Moonbeams ya’all!

A good meditation for this moon would be, what do you hunger for?

Full moons are for letting go. When thinking about setting your intention, be thinking of the things that you hunger for in 2015 and then give some thought to what stands in your way and set your intention for letting these things go.  Full moon is about wiping the slate clean to prepare ourselves for the new moon and what we want to achieve.  Think of it as the sea.  The tide comes in, and then it moves out. We are in a moving out period, the beach is being wiped clean.  This is also a wonderful time to focus on the conservation of energy, rest, working on protection, working on personal issues (those issues that are all our own ,that don’t have anything to do with others)  You know…. The deep, deep down stuff that you keep hidden from sight, want to blame on others, the things you have not been taking responsibility for because you just don’t have time or the gumption. Deal with it already and move on.  Winter is all about going inward, reworking our cornerstones and preparing our temple for the spring.

A possible mantra for this full moon cycle might be;  “I let go of the past and embrace fresh starts”

P.S

For my friends working on wanting to build a family this moon cycle is a big one due to being the deepest yin energy and water element.  Focus on what blocks you might be experiencing and be sure to let them go out with the tide! ;-)  you want to be ready when the 20th hits!

WOW... I HAVE FOUND MY BOX
WOW... I HAVE FOUND MY BOX
12/05/2014
I think I have pretty much gone through life, outside of a box.  I was never really in, with the “IN” crowd.  I might of had a brief moment where I fit into a genre in highschool but that was mainly due to the music I was listening to. Other than that, I kinda just moved to my own beat… I think. hahaha, There is that memory issue!

Anyway, lately I have noticed that www.naturalhealingstones is morphing, or more to the point, I am morphing and my box is not budging.  I am now, not only into Jewelry but am delving into glass fusing, pottery and art.  OH MY!  The art thing took me by surprise really.  Most of you don’t know this but my first two years in college I was an art major.  The first year was great.  My professors were digging what I was putting out and I thought I was the bomb.  They were the ONLY classes I was making A’s and B’s in.  I thought I had found my niche. Then year two came, the year I decided to be politically outspoken. I didn’t much care for an overly liberal comment from a professor and had the gumption to say so. From then on my art work was deemed D/F worthy.  WHAT?!?!  I then discovered, I do art for myself.  I decided what I like and don’t like and I didn’t much care for creating to please someone, so that I could get a good grade. Then I had my accident… hahaha, another blog. Ahhh, the synchronicity of it all.

So here I am…. years, and years, and years away from those crushing, soul destroying moments of being told my work isn’t good. It’s Christmas and I’m in Iowa visiting my folks. My mom says, “let me show you what I have been doing.”  We start with learning some watercolor techniques, then she gives me my first introduction to zentangle. …. it’s addictive…. and I’m off.  I quickly come home, have slumber parties, show all my girlfriends how to do it and vow to do all my Christmas cards by way of zentangle cards.(forgetting how totally time consuming it is, I think I did five!)

Well a year passes, I start taking pottery classes and I’m delving deeper into Zentangle.  It morphs quickly into my Whimsy Cards. (I’ve been told by two expertly trained {yes, they paid thousands of dollars to get that label} ladies that, I am not adhering to Zentangle standards) My reply, in my head mind you, I know a great professor you should meet but whatever. So… out with the Zentangle label and on to my own, Whimsy Cards… or now it seems, Whimsy Art  label~ Made to inspire light spirits and happy hearts!!  I mean… you absolutely have no idea the kind of impact that people, who were buying my cards and instead of using them as note cards, were framing them for wall art, had on me. WHAT!  I was told I sucked!!! People like this?  People find value in this? I mean, talk about empowering!! Talk about giving the finger to the Ol’ Professor. Heck to the Yeah baby!!!!  Pottery keeps picking up speed and I do beleive somewhere down the line the two will join. I am in fact, very much looking forward to this marriage.

That brings us to this, the need to rebrand myself.  Who am I? What am I? Where is this all going? I still love, love, love making Natural Healing Stones but I’m so passionate about my other endeavors as well, even obsessed really. How to market myself?  Trust me, I have done overtime on meditation on this and have devoted almost all of my 11:11’s to it. Then… through the magic of Jenn C. and FB, I found this lady, Sue Kreitzman, and she led me to her interview on You Tube and JUST LIKE THAT…. I found my box and It might be hip!  It’s nice.  It’s big.  It’s roomie.  There is so much room to grow, to be creative, there are no rules!!!  WHERE WAS THIS WOMAN WHEN I WAS IN COLLEGE? I am OUSTIDER ARTIST~ for the most part untrained, passionate about my art, not interested in critics, obsessed, driven by compulsion. The people who buy my lovelies, do so because they have a visceral reaction when they see it. I LOVE THAT.  Yes, not everyone is going to dig it. I get that and I don’t care! That is what is so great. So having a Sally Field moment right now, “they like me, they really like me!”

I still have no idea how I am to market this or comprehending the morphing that is going to have to take place under the heading of Natural Healing Stones. (Suggestions are welcomed)  I am, however, overjoyed at the changes and creativity that the coming 2015 will present. I can’t thank enough the encouragement and support of my clients, friends and family.  You all are very much a part of my unbelievable journey as an artist.  You really do ROCK!!

US MILITARY IS FORCING SOLDIERS TO PAY BACK BONUSES AFTER 7 YEARS.
US MILITARY IS FORCING SOLDIERS TO PAY BACK BONUSES AFTER 7 YEARS.
11/26/2014

US MILITARY IS FORCING SOLDIERS TO PAY BACK BONUSES AFTER 7 YEARS.

It’s appalling, outrageous and despicable that the US Military has the audacity to contact soldiers who were asked to re-enlist (WHILE IN IRAQ FIGHTING), for bonuses between 7,000 and 30,000 dollars and inform them that they must pay this money back or experience garnished wages.

I have a very close friend that is going through this situation and I’m knowing of this information first hand and wanted to share it with you, in hopes that you will contact his congressman PHIL GINGERY .  Please note, this story applies to a large number of soldiers. I will from here on out, only speak on behalf of the one I know the specific details about.

The 411… while in Iraq fighting 7 years ago, soldier’s of a Special Forces Unit were asked to resign (re-enlist) for three years. For re-enlisting each soldier received a monetary bonus. The soldier I’m speaking of received 7,500. Not only did this soldier fight in Iraq, he also did tours in Afghanistan during said three years.  7 years later (yes, I said seven), as in the here and now 2014,  he was contacted by the state of CA. saying that they had no record of his re-enlistment and therefor he needed to pay back his 7,500.oo bonus or produce said missing information.  Remember, this soldier was fighting in Iraq at the time of re-enlistment.  He has no paper work.  It was up to the state to send this paperwork to the Military. Soldiers can not input anything into the military system, the state has to do this. So, now the Military has no records either, supposedly.  Side note,I’d be curious to know how checks were written and  went out to these re-enlisted men, checks between 7,000 to 30,000, without proper paper work being filed?  That gets a WTH and it’s own blog at a later date.

I am disgusted.  Totally, unequivocally disgusted to the core that we,  (Not we. I didn’t do this! I paid my taxes!!) that our government would treat our men and women who have risked their lives, literally putting themselves in harms way and sacrificed so much, through this kind of ordeal on their arrival back into the states. SHAME ON YOU CALIFORNIA!!! AND SHAME ON YOU, US MILITARY, for not standing behind you soldiers, who you send over to fight for you.  Where is the appeals system for them?  You just send them a certified letter saying they are now in debt claims! They have to pay up or look at garnished wages! SERIOUSLY!!!

So what you are implying is…. our soldiers now have to pay to fight your wars! That is complete and total BS. Again and I can’t say it enough, I’m thoroughly disgusted!!!

The above mentioned soldier joined the U.S Army during President Reagan’s administration. He as spent his life serving his country.  He has done four tours under Special Forces. I owe it to a guy like that to write a blog, tell everyone I know and contact my congressmen. It’s the very least I can do. It’s the right thing to do.

If you find this story disturbing, I implore you to contact Phil Gingery (use this link to access contact info.)  http://gingrey.house.gov/contact/

This is happening to a large number of our armed service men and women.  They have nowhere to turn. Nobody to speak on their behalf or help them out. Is that right?  No, it’s not!!  All it takes is a quick call or an email. Just paste and copy if need be but do something.  It just isn’t right on so many levels!

Do you enjoy your freedom?

B.A.

FIRSTS
11/22/2014
Kinda crazy cool that we can have a last and never run out of firsts.  Hmmm, as my coffee takes hold, I do see the flaw in that thinking but I choose to look at the world of firsts and see all of the adventure it holds.  Blogging. This is a first for me and starting with the first, I would like to apologize for my grammar! And… I just noticed through the help of apologize and grammar that this thing comes with spell check. Whew. It’s completely insane as I get older, how these two things are vanishing from my brain cells at alarming speed.  Anyway.. I digress, back to firsts.  Blogging.  It’s a total first for me.  I have been putting it off, thinking that, nobody wants to hear me ramble on and I’m pretty sure it’s damn near impossible to figure out what’s going on inside of my head.  However, I seem to get some sort of personal enjoyment of having my say in everything or more to the point, just anything. So, here it is, my first blog. Adventurous spirit, filled with the need to create, the stubbornness to do what she please (against all kinds of crazy odds) and now has the gumption to be heard.  OMG, may the force be with you and may you get to experience a first today! <3

P.S I will pledge to hold back on the  dot, dot, dot (...)For some reason my brain feels the dot dot dot has way more power than a comma.

Magical Spots to Ponder
Magical Spots to Ponder
11/14/2014
Today's thankful post is about finding that sweet spot. I do believe my porch is magical. It's 37 degrees outside and if you have a front porch like mine, you can enjoy the high 60's, maybe even the 70's. Not gonna lie, having a house that gets full sun all year round produces a few problems to deal with. Finding a warm sunny spot to perch and let life roll on by, in winter, is not one of them. I am so freaking thankful that i have a place like this to warm my bones, relax and of course, to ponder things to be thankful for!
